TinTin was published in Egypt by Dar Al-Maaref since 1977 till the contract between Dar Al-Maaref and the Belgian publisher Casterman expired in 2007. TinTin captured people’s hearts and attention and is highly regarded to be Egypt’s favorite of all the time.
Asterix was also published 1977 along with TinTin; Asterix was actually very successful and gathered a considerable number of fans. Egyptians loved “Asterix and Cleopatra” for the beautiful depiction of their mighty ancestors.
Lucky Luke was published by Dar Al-Maaref in 1978; Lucky Luke gained indescribable fame, for it was the first time Egyptians read a comic book about a cowboy that shoots faster than his own shadow.
